Rains wreak havoc in Ntcheu

Over 350 households have been rendered homeless after a rainstorm destroyed their houses in Ntcheu last week.

Five villages from traditional authorities (T/As) Ganya, Makwangwala and Njolomole were affected.

Ntcheu district disaster management desk officer Hellen Nyirenda said the affected households had the roofs of their houses blown off.

She said classroom blocks at Kampanje and Katedze primary schools in T/A Njolomole were also damaged.

“As council, we are appealing for relief assistant from well-wishers so to assist the affected families,” said Nyirenda.

In the meantime, the affected families have been sheltered in nearby public institutions. n
